Grainne Ni
Mhaille (pronounced “Grawn-yuh na molly”) is a gorgeous black
blagdon mare born in 2007 to Parnell’s Nuala,
a lovely piebald broodmare imported from Ireland in 2005. Grace
O’Malley exemplifies the traditional Cob body type with her heavy
bone, short back and HUGE amounts of feather, mane and tail. She will
look grand in front of a vardo! Although Grainne, whose name
translates as “Grace O’Malley” in English, was named for a famous
Irish pirate captain and rebel who lived in the 16th century, our
Grace is a gentle mare who LOVES entertaining the children at parades
and Celtic festivals. Our Grace is the first blagdon filly sired by
the incomparable Rock Ranch Nelson, a First
Premium Classic Vanner stallion. Grace lives up to her namesake –
bold, inquisitive and fearless – yet she has a loving and gentle
nature. Grace is negative for tobiano (tt) and homozygous for black
(EE), so she will never bear red-based foals, regardless of the color
genes of the sire. For the past three years, Grace has participated in
the annual Long’s Peak Scottish/Irish Highlands Festival in Estes
Park, CO, and the Fort Collins Irish Festival, where she is a huge hit
with the crowds. Grace also participated in her first show at the
Continental Divide Horse Show in 2009.
Grace
was recently started in harness by Geir Kanstad, and has been driving
with her dam, Parnell’s Nuala, as the wheelers in the Gypsy Horse
four-in-hand - check out her new PhotoShows for the details!”
Grace is registered with the
Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse Association, and is eligible for registration
with the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society and the Gypsy Horse Registry of
America. If you are looking to breed the true, traditional Gypsy cob,
whether for driving or riding, then Grace should be part of your
breeding program. Parnell’s Grainne ni Mhaille is currently for sale
for $20,000.
