Keelin, whose name
in Gaelic means "beauty that can only be described by poetry", is a
five year old imported Irish Cob filly. Keelin rides English and
Western, and is learning to sort and rope cattle. She is a great
starter mare for someone who wants an imported Irish Cob brood mare
prospect who also has a bright performance future under saddle.
Before she was foaled, we had planned to bring her dam (Parnell's
Cahir) to the U.S. and leave the baby in Ireland with the breeder.
However, once we saw the first pictures of this girl, we couldn't
resist, and Keelin came to Colorado with her dam in 2005.
As we expect all of our cobs to be functional as well as beautiful,
Keelin has completed 120 days of professional training under saddle
with Anthony O'Brien. Adding to her arena work, Keelin has been
on 5- to 10-mile trail rides, and is now busy convincing everyone that
she is a solid working cow-horse! In addition to everyday tasks such
as side-passing to open and close gates, and dragging objects around
the arena, Anthony spent 30 days teaching Keelin to cut cows and rope
steers!! We don't know where this beautiful Irish lass got her
cow sense, but Keelin absolutely loves this job! She can't wait to get
saddled-up and start chasing steers! Keelin is registered with
the Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse Association, the Gypsy Horse Registry of
America and the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society. This girl can do it all, and best of all, she is ready
to
go now! Keelin is
