Born
in November 2005, Parnell’s Leannan is our outstanding five
year old stallion. Leannan, whose name means "the gray lad" in
Gaelic, is the offspring of Clononeen Dunbrody
and Parnell's Brenna. Like his sire, Leannan
has a wonderful disposition, great bone and lots of hair and feather.
Leannan is registered with the Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse Association
and the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society. When Leannan returned to the
Irish Rose in September 2007 after spending three months driving
training with Kevin Paul and Sheila Grange of Driving Horse
Connection, Charlie and Leannan invited some friends and neighbors
over for a picnic and driving exhibition – this picnic has become an
annual event at the Irish Rose! As he gains more driving experience,
we anticipate that Leannan will pull our traditional Gypsy vehicles
and our Irish jaunting car when it is restored. Recently, we have
hitched Leannan to both the Gypsy Flat Cart and the spindle-backed
presentation gig for little jaunts down the road by the Irish Rose -
check out the new PhotoShows!
Leannan also participated in his first show at the Continental Divide
Horse Show and Gypsy Breeds Classic in 2009, entering in the Pleasure
Driving Working and the Stallions In Hand classes.
Leannan’s first two foals are on the ground!
Parnell’s Caoinlelan out of Parnell’s Roisin (4/12/10) and
Parnell's Si-Gaoithe out of Parnell’s Cahir
(4/13/10) are charming everyone on the Irish
Rose farm - check out their pages for more pictures and
information!
